Blink-182, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley are not names that you normally hear strung together, but for Wild the Coyote these three equally unique and trailblazing acts have led him to forge out a path of his own in an industry that so often seeks conformity. Hooked early in life by the idea of performing music for a living, Wild the Coyote has put in the work and made the sacrifices necessary to make his dream come true. Fresh off his new single, “Silver Round Bullet”, Wild the Coyote is charting a unique path to the industry’s top.
Recently, we had the chance to chat with him about his new single, musical journey, and what’s next!
Worlds Of Country: When did you know that you wanted to pursue a life in music?
WTC: In 1994, I was 9 years old and MTV aired a live performance of Green Day live from Chicago and I was immediately hooked to the life. I knew that was gonna be me one day and I’ve never thought any other way.
Worlds Of Country: Once you knew, what was your first step towards making this dream a reality?
WTC: I begged my parents for a guitar, I convinced my friend to get a drum set and we started a garage band called “Operation Gumby” I remember, lol. We had to be like 11 or 12 years old, we had no clue what we were doing but I’ve been in and out of bands ever since.
Worlds Of Country: What’s been the biggest obstacle you’ve faced along the way?
WTC: Biggest obstacle has been making music a full-time job, while having a full-time job and then being a full-time musician without a full-time job.
Worlds Of Country: You have a very unique style of music, who would you say influenced that style the most?
WTC: I grew up learning to play guitar out of a Blink-182 chord book and I later grew into my sound listening to Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley so those are naturally my go-to influences that really stylized the music I love to make. Blink 182 and Johnny Cash, I know it sounds random, but it works.
Worlds Of Country: What’s the story behind your new song “Silver Round Bullet”?
WTC: I wrote that song about a push and pull reality that I’ve lived with my whole adult life between my small country hometown life and my current big city Los Angeles life. Sometimes the road less traveled gets too far and you wanna turn around and go back home but you know the reward of pushing forward is just too good to pass up.
Worlds Of Country: What’s next for you?
WTC:In the next couple months, we’ll be releasing 2 singles from the upcoming album, along with 2 music videos to match. And in 2022 when the album, “7 Roses” drops, then we’ll announce a tour. In the meantime, I’ve been writing and demoing some new songs with producer Rob Kleiner for a 3 song EP that will come out in the spring of 2022.
