Chad Bushnell Talks New Single, 90’s Country

90’s Country has shaped the path forward for many of today’s aspiring country stars, Chad Bushnell is no different. Influenced by the likes of Dwight Yoakam and George Strait, Bushnell is looking to bring the golden era of country forward with a fresh twist. Bushnell’s new single, Outta Style, is a great example of Bushnell threading the needle between traditional and modern country, seeking a happy medium.

Recently, we had the chance to chat with Bushnell about his musical influences, style, new single, and more

Worlds of Country: When did you know that you wanted to pursue music?

Chad: I’ve known I’ve wanted to pursue a music career since I was a young boy. Ever
since I watched my dad play in a local country band and performed with my great
grandmother at church I knew it was what I wanted to do.

Worlds of Country: Once you knew, what was your first step towards making this dream a reality?

Chad: I started singing at family get togethers at the age of 5 with the help of my parents and began to enter talent shows at the age of 12. We didn’t really know what to do when I was that age, but were told that entering talent shows was a good start. I
started to do my first recordings at the age of 15 and landed my first opening slot
for a national act at the age of 18 after singing the national anthem at a PBR put
on by Mesa Productions in Red Bluff, Ca.

Worlds of Country: How would you describe your musical style?

Chad: I usually get promoted as a Contemporary Country artist or a Christian Country artist. My style is modern country with some 90’s country influence. I’m a huge 90’s country fan and listen to that style most of the time. You can probably hear that if you listen to most of my music.

Worlds of Country: Who would you say most influenced this style of music?

Chad: I listened to artists like Vince Gill, Dwight Yoakam, George Strait and more
growing up. I would say there is some influence from these types of artists in my
music today. However, I try to mix a little bit of the Red Dirt Texas Country style in
my music as well.

Worlds of Country: What’s the story behind your new single, Outta Style?

Chad:I wrote this song on a rainy day at home in Northern California. I was supposed to go shoe horses that day, but the weather was too bad to work in. I decided to sitdown and write a song. I had recently opened for Aaron Watson at Ace of Spades in Sacramento and decided I’d try to write a Texas Country style song. I started playing my guitar and singing and sort of just came up with “Outa Style”.

Worlds of Country: What’s next for you?

Chad: My next step is releasing my dream album this summer of 2022. I am doing most of my recording in Texas and am excited for this project. I haven’t released a full album in four years and am praying that this will take me to the next level in my
music career. Keep an eye out for it.
